Iranian Army to continue its military presence in Syria; says Iranian top brass

Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Army Brigadier General Ahmad Pourdastan said on Saturday that Iranian Army’s advisory mission in Syria shall continue as in the past, while he rejected claims that Iranian fighter jets are carrying out missions in war-scarred Syria.
But Brig. Gen. Pourdastan added that Iranian cargo jets, namely C-130 Hercules and Boeing 747 Freighters, are operating flights to carry Iran’s humanitarian aid to the besieged Syrian villages.

The Iranian top brass pointed that Quds Force division of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is responsible for training popular forces in the battle against the terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria, adding that Iranian Army’s advisory missions are taking place under the aegis of IRGC’s Quds Force.
