Iraqi forces, Kurdish Peshmerga reach agreement over Faysh Khabur border crossing

Iraqi federal forces and Kurdish Peshmerga militants reportedly sealed an agreement over the strategic Faysh Khabur border crossing, located in the southwestern Iraqi Dohuk Province, which links Iraq to the neighboring Turkey.
A well-informed official in the Iraqi Army who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “we have reached an agreement with the Kurdish forces according which they will hand over the control of Faysh Khabur border crossing to us peacefully. The Iraqi flag will be soon hoisted over Faysh Khabur terminal.”
Earlier, the Iraqi central government in Baghdad reiterated that it won’t compromise on the issue of its sovereignty over all Iraqi border crossings and airports, however, it seeks to reach some sort of understanding with the Kurdish Peshmerga militants.
