Designating al-Nujaba Movement as terrorist organization wrong political step, says Iraqi PM

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Thursday blasted a fresh US congressional bill according to which Iraq’s Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba designated as terrorist organization.
Mr. al-Abadi added that Iraq is pursuing the matter via its diplomatic legation in Washington, D.C. and through the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
During his weekly press briefing, the Iraqi Premier commented on the recent US sanction against al-Nujaba Movement, which played a central role in the fight against ISIS terrorists, saying: “Now as we are edging closer to the final victory over ISIS terrorists, we deem these actions [US sanctions against al-Nujaba] in this crucial period of time as disastrously wrong political step.”
Dr. al-Abadi addressed the US House saying that imposing sanctions against a-Nujaba and other Iraqi resistance factions which showed matchless sacrifices in the fight against ISIS terrorists is a wrong political move.
Al-Abadi who is also Iraq’s Commander-in-Chief asserted that Baghdad won’t allow US to enlist Iraqi brave volunteer forces as terrorists, implying that Iraq is likely to engage in behind-the-scenes talks with US Congress to stop the controversial bill.
